Equine Virus Found in Central and NW Ohio - The Ohio Department of Agriculture confirmed on 10/17/07 that eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus has been found in a horse from Central Ohio (Orient) and Northwest Ohio (Harrod). These cases are the first ones since 2005. The virus, which is spread through infected mosquitoes, can be fatal to horses if they are not vaccinated and can effect humans as well.
